Tara Schyer was born and raised in Melbourne where she is still based. A practicing psychologist, her work explores relationships, seeking to express the idea of connection and the shared experience of humanity. Using predominantly acrylic, oil, metal leaf, pen and pencil, her clean lines and wide variances of colour give expression to the unique and wonderful aspects of human beings.

In particular, her work examines our interrelatedness, as well as the divisions and separations within and between us. These ideas manifest as visual metaphors in her geometric abstracts, which range from vividly colourful to boldly monochromatic. Tara has a considered and poetic approach to form, line and colour, and an acute awareness of surface qualities. Her refined works are visual distillations of her emotional and interpersonal observations.
